It was a great, truly Mongolian experience staying with them at the ger. We fetched water from snow, collect wood and cow cakes for fires, cook tons of lamb and from time to time drink mogolian beer. The ger was located in the mountains far from the city but still easily accessible with a bus. The air was fresh and not polluted and waking up in the morning looking on barren mountain peaks was priceless. We cooked we laugh – I felt very comfortable with him. This is one of those cases when you really don’t want to leave and after saying goodbye some emptiness stays inside you. I met the host in Ulanbaatar but I left good friend.

Wow—I can’t even begin to fathom what my time in Mongolia would have been like without Guest gers help arranged an incredible trip out to see a local family in their traditional ger, and my stay with them completely surpassed expectations. We herded some cows and sheep on horseback, enjoyed the Naadam festival on their TV screen, and even had a dinner purely of sheep head (no sauce, seasoning, or oil in sight).
